Bison Skull Pile

"Bison Skull Pile" by Sonia Romero

This piece is inspired by the famous photograph from the 1870's of the great American bison slaughter. Hundreds of thousands of bison were killed for their hides, and to remove an important food source from the Native Americans. It speaks to our nation's history of mass consumption and waste.
